Joe Conto : King of the Centerpiece

Splitting his time between teaching and improv, Canada and the states, comedy and storytelling, Joe Conto is used to being in between worlds. Joe uses his standpoint to share this story of stuff rich people like, an irritable top chef, and butter ducks.

Sage Tyrtle : Summer Love

Asaf Gerchak : The story of Action Park

For our second anniversary show, Made to be broken, we invited our storytellers to break all the rules, except one – the stories still had to be true. Asaf decided to tell us someone else’s story. The story of a place. A place that was suppose to be happy but turned out to be one of the most macabre amusement parks around.

That place was Action Park.

*I might say, never has a wikipedia article been so funny.

Colin Munch : Foreign love, foreign food

Colin tells us the story of his first marriage (in kindergarden) and how finding out that she ate things that were completely different opened his eyes to different cultures. This synopsis does not do the stories humour justice. Trust me.

Confabulation in Macleans!

Maclean’s kindly contacted us about the revival of storytelling in Canada and spoke to Matt about Confabulation. At the end of the article they mention two of our stories that you can listen to here on our site. Both are from our March show ‘Confabulation presents Strange Luck : Tales of the Twists and Turns of Fate’ – Taylor Towers : Love affairs & lazy eyes and Joel Fishbane : Driving the 401.

Confabulation is very excite to invite you to our SECOND ANNIVERSARY SHOW.

Saturday, May 12, 2012
8:00 pm @ MainLine Theatre, 3997 boul. Saint-Laurent, Montreal, QC H2W 1Y4

For two years now, Confabulation has been Montreal’s premier monthly storytelling showcase, featuring true-life stories from people in and around Montreal. All of our stories have been true as can be told, from the person who experienced them, without notes, props, or gimmicks of any kind.

But all things change.

For one very special night, we are inviting our storytellers to bend, break, or ignore these special limitations. The stories will still be true. The stories will still be stories. However, everything else goes out the window. Stories can be stylized, or feature props, or be told in a different medium — we’re open to anything.

Plus: cake! Matt’s making a cake. So should you. Just like last year, rules are made to be broken, cake is made to be shared.

AND
